Microbiome in Cancer

The gut microbiota is associated with different diseases including cancer. We are among the first to demonstrate the ectopic overgrowth of oral pathogens, the pro-tumorigenic role of fecal samples from patients, the oncogenic mechanisms of specific microbes (e.g. P. anaerobius), and the use of faecal microbes as a non-invasive diagnostic tool in colorectal cancer. We have also identified microbial changes across different stages of gastric cancer.
